And the Grammy Goes to…

By Jacob Solomon

This past Sunday, stars from the world of music walked the red carpet to attend one of America’s most glamorous events: The Grammys. Held in Las Vegas, one would expect the stars to ditch long pants or heavier-set materials to adhere to the warmer weather. However, that was not the case for some. Let us take a look at some of the stars’ best (and worst!) looks.

The hot weather was definitely not something that deterred Lil Nas X from his intricate look. Sporting a white, pearled Balmain suit, X was one of the most talked about looks of the night, and his matching platform shoes definitely helped his case.

Reeling it into the more elegant side of Hollywood, Lady Gaga stood proud in a black and white Armani Privé gown, accessorized with Tiffany jewelry. As she later sang for both her and Tony Bennett, the gown was an excellent introduction to her classic performance.

Perhaps one of the most shocking looks of the night (in a good way!), was seeing Dua Lipa with platinum blonde hair. The British singer, who later matched with her Sweetest Pie co-star Megan Thee Stallion, posed in a vintage bondage-style Versace dress, adorned with gold hardware and accessories. Another blonde in Versace who strutted down the carpet was none other than Doja Cat, who wore a baby blue bedazzled dress with a matching Coperni glass purse and a JBL speaker. Weird? Totally. Does it work? Absolutely.

But enough of the best. What about the worst? Well, of course, this is completely subjective, but there was definitely some confusion with at least 2 stars’ looks. Those that come to mind were Billie Eilish and Justin Bieber. And each of them had something in common.

Billie’s latest theme has taken the world by storm, and depending on who you ask it’s either a pretty snowfall or a tsunami. Her recent appearance at the Oscars in an all black, ruffled Gucci gown left everyone speechless. Some even took to TikTok to criticize her outfit choice. However, the singer has not given up on the all-black looks just yet, and sported an edgy Rick Owens ensemble on the Grammys red carpet. The dress was something of its own, but it was her boots that definitely left a lasting impression on the carpet’s threads.

Holding onto that thought, worldwide sensation, Justin Bieber also had an interesting Grammys look. He wore an oversized Balenciaga suit with a pink beanie, and -- wait for it -- matching chunky boots. So, perhaps the world is not that into boots anymore…or maybe these oversized boots overstepped their boundaries and needed to be dialed back.

Nonetheless, the Grammys were a stunning night and all the awards were well-deserved. Or maybe some of them were? I don’t know. Check with the Academy on that one.
