Zeniya’s fall uniform

By: Zeniya Cooley

My style tends to heat up as the weather cools down. Not necessarily in the “bundle up” sense, but in the sense that I dress my best in the fall and winter. Since fall is now upon us, allow me to introduce a few sartorial pieces that will sustain me through the season.

Joy Jackets

Cheerful colors and the joy of dressing have returned to the runways, so I decided to inject that optimism into my outerwear. Instead of settling for dull denim, I commissioned a painter to decorate my jean jackets with vivid cartoon art. Similarly, I bought a white warm-up enriched with star shapes and cobalt blue hues. Besides choosing vibrant colors, I also elevated my outerwear through eye-catching embroidery. My favorite embroidered item is a Johnny Was jacket featuring floral design and bird-sewn sleeves.

Sleek Sneaks

I do not identify as a sneakerhead, but I do love classic sneaker styles. The black Nike Tanjun shoes, in particular, have a satisfyingly symmetrical shape and pair well with every wardrobe essential. I also love Nike’s Air Max 90s, the new It shoe. Of all the colorways, the snow-white pair reigns supreme. Its icy elegance can upgrade even the most basic item in my closet.

Graphics Galore

The popularity of graphic tees cannot be denied. A quick scroll through Instagram or a swift scan of the new arrivals at Urban Outfitters proves this fact. What I look for in this trendy piece is a vintage-inspired appearance with pop culture references. Whether I purchase anime shirts from Depop or concert tees from celebrity stores, I delight in the power of an attention-grabbing graphic.

Elite Eyewear

COVID-19 masks have complicated my love for sunglasses, but I refuse to abandon the versatile accessory. When choosing the perfect frames, I usually favor clear lenses and circular shapes. However, I do opt for a red-lensed, rectangular pair on occasion. According to my wardrobe, two stores that offer excellent eyewear are Privé Revaux — which boasts Billie Eilish as a customer — and the street chic Vintage Frames Company.
